historical reconstruction of Australian Aboriginal languages,
especially those of central Australia and Western Australia;
Phonetics and Phonology; Morphology; Lexicography; Language

Projects under way
- Dialect Diversity in the Western Desert Language, focussing
on lexical and morphological diversity. This project involves
data from a very wide range of sources of different types and
from different eras. Cross-source and cross-dialect
correspondence sets are managed in the database system under
development in...
- Australian Languages Lexical Database, a research database
of lexical resources in a range of Australian languages,
initially from central and Western Australia. The primary
interface is web-based and designed to be multi-user and
multi-project and to permit multiple representations of data
while respecting various kinds of rights and sensitivities in
relation to specific content.
- Continuing research on the grammar of Eastern and Central
Arrernte.
