Research interests in Australian Aboriginal languages, particularly those of the Pilbara region of Western Australia; including Panyjima, Martuthunira, Nyamal and Yingkarta. Past and current work includes grammatical description and language documentation, historical and comparative reconstruction of the morphology and syntax of Pilbara languages, language contact.
Research interests include phonetics and phonology, grammatical description and lexicography, particularly with respect to the Arrernte languages of Central Australia. Professor Anne Pauwels Licentiate Germanic Philologic (Antwerp), MA, PhD (Monash) (now at University of Birmingham, UK) My research interests and expertise draw upon two areas of sociolinguistics � i) languages in contact and linguistic diversity and ii) language and gender.

My research interests lie in the broad areas of formal semantics, the semantics/pragmatics interface, semantic change, semantic creativity and variation in meaning. My most recent projects investigate innovative uses of the present perfect in Australian English as well as cross-linguistic comparison of the development of perfects.

My research interests centre around computational linguistics. At the moment I am focussed on the application of computational and Bayesian methods to identifying language relatedness and doing comparative reconstruction.
