Linguistics can be studied as a major under the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.
Bachelor of ArtsA major in Linguistics (in the B.A. and B.A.(Communication Studies) degrees), requires: - 12 points of Level 1 units (ie two 6-point units)
- 36 points of Level 2 and 3 units, which must include:
- LING2202 Grammatical Theory (Syntax)
- LING2201 Phonetics and Phonology
Students wishing to do a major in Linguistics are strongly advised to do both LING2201 and LING2202 in their second year as these are required prerequisites for the Level 3 units.Bachelor of ScienceThe same units as for the Bachelor of Arts are required for the Bachelor of Science.
